This dress looks amazing - the embroidery is a lovely detail, it's really easy to match and layer with other garments and can act as a sleeveless coat of sorts - and it feels great to wear; it's so comfortable.  The fabric is York Cotton, as are many other garments.  However the weave is different (thicker and more corse in appearance) to the Rawan underdress, and presumably similar underdresses.  This provides a contrast when layering multiple garments.

It is not shown in the photo but the hood is long and pointed.  However it frames the face nicely and is well balanced on the head (it doesn't easily fall forward nor does the weight drag it back).

If I perceive one minor drawback it's the fastenings.  The dress is fastened by ties,  inside and outside, one set on each side.  On the grey Dala dress the ties are black and quite bulky, meaning they are very obvious.  I tucked them in, which mostly hid them from sight.  As a positive, the ties are an extension of the bias binding so they are strong and there are no worries about them coming unstitched.  Also (if fastened in a bow) they don't slip easily when tied, but release smoothly when pulled.

When deciding which size to purchase, it's worth noting the combined sizes. If you are close to the bottom of the L/XL or XXL/XXXL range, I strongly advise opting for the size below. Due to the sleeveless wrap design, the dress can be tied looser if needed and the lack of sleeves provides a bit of flexibility across the shoulders.

I ordered the "correct" size according to the chart. In fairness it did fit, however it was huge! Fortunately Burgschneider were fantastic when it came to approaching them about acquiring a smaller size; their friendly and efficient customer service is among the best I've ever received.

The Burgschneider range is beautifully designed and rendered; the garments are great quality and they feel like clothes, not just a costume piece. The dress is flattering in style and allows easy movement, plus it helped ward off the chilly winter temperatures during the evenings. I look forward to wearing this at future events.
